9.02 carat Fancy Intense Yellow radiant-cut lab-grown diamond

Large fancy color diamonds are rare in nature, which is why most buyers meet them first as lab-grown stones. But the listings can be confusing: carat weight does not tell you how big a stone looks, and colour words like Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid mean different things. This page shows what is in our loose-diamond inventory as of October 2026, so you can compare stones before you click.

Quick answer

  • Our largest fancy color stones range from about 8 to 22 carats, in yellow and pink.
  • Yellow grades in stock run from Fancy Light to Fancy Vivid. Vivid is the most saturated.
  • All are CVD-grown, and most are VS1 clarity. Certification varies by stone, so check each listing.
  • Fancy colours in lab-grown stones can involve post-growth treatment, which should be disclosed on the listing and the certificate.

Why carat weight misleads on shape

Carat is weight, not size. Two stones of the same weight can look very different on the hand: a radiant or oval is longer and narrower and usually looks larger face-up, while a deeply cut cushion carries more of its weight below the surface. When you compare stones, compare the length and width in millimetres on the listing, and look at the shape, not carats alone.

What the colour grades mean

Fancy colour grades run from lightest to strongest: Faint, Very Light, Light, Fancy Light, Fancy, Fancy Intense, Fancy Vivid, then Fancy Deep and Fancy Dark for darker tones. Fancy Vivid is the most saturated of the bright grades and usually the most sought after. Fancy Light is a soft, pale yellow that suits stones set in white gold or platinum. Treatment and certification: what to check

  • Post-growth treatment. Many lab-grown fancy colours, especially pink, are produced or enhanced after growth. This is permanent but should be disclosed on the listing and certificate.
  • Certificate. Ask for the lab report before you buy. Our IGI vs GIA guide explains what a report tells you.
  • Clarity. VVS2 and VS1 are high clarity grades. The report shows the plot of any inclusions, so ask to see it.

Setting a large fancy color stone

Large stones need strong, protective settings such as bezels or sturdy prongs. A white-metal setting makes yellow look cooler and cleaner; yellow gold deepens the warmth. Read our setting styles guide, then see our custom design service to have one made, or browse large diamonds.

Frequently asked questions

How large are fancy yellow lab-grown diamonds?

In our inventory the yellow stones range from about 8 to 18 carats. Each listing gives the millimetre measurements.

What is the difference between Fancy Intense and Fancy Vivid yellow?

Both are strong colours. Fancy Vivid is more saturated than Fancy Intense, and it is the grade most buyers picture as a rich, saturated yellow.

Are lab-grown fancy colour diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. They are chemically and physically the same as mined diamonds. They are grown in a lab, and their colour may be as-grown or enhanced after growth, which should be disclosed.

Do these diamonds come certified?

It varies by stone. Some carry an IGI report and others have certification available on request. Check the listing for the stone you want and ask us for the report before you buy.

Can you set a loose fancy color diamond in a ring or pendant?

Yes. We design and make custom settings for loose stones. Start on our custom design page.
